I love yoghurt but when yoghurt doesn’t love you it can be hard to find a natural sugar-free version of lactose free yoghurt!
I make my own lactose-free yoghurt at home using my EasiYo yoghurt maker. I mix up a sachet of Natural Yoghurt and then drop 5 drops of Lacteeze to the container (you can buy Lacteeze drops from your local pharmacy – they order them in for me if they aren’t in stock). Shake well and then leave in the fridge for 24 hours for the Lacteeze to reduce the lactose content. I then follow the EasiYo instructions to make the yoghurt in their yoghurt maker.
It does take a little planning in advance but it is worth it! My children love the lactose free yoghurt in their lunch-boxes or with fresh fruit for dessert! I also use this yoghurt for cooking – for example replacing buttermilk in pancake recipes.
Do you know if you add lacteeze to store purchased natural yoghurt (and stir it through) and leave it in the fridge for 24 hours – does this remove most of the lactose?

Hi Sue, I have not tried adding it to store bought yoghurt, although I have wondered about it. In theory it sounds like it would work… If you try it let me know how you go! Sacha
